A high standard of accommodation with en-suite facilities

We pride ourselves on the quality of our accommodation and furnishings, which help to make Allenbrook a true home from home.

Opened in 1985, Allenbrook now has 36 nursing places.

All bedrooms have en-suite facilities. They are comfortably furnished and equipped to provide the nursing care our residents need.

A special Hydro-bath is also available for assisted bathing.

Our pleasantly decorated conservatory provides a sunny outlook where residents can relax or sit and read. A spacious dining / lounge area is used for entertainment and communal activities. Residents may choose to dine in the main dining area or in their own rooms.

All rooms, including bathrooms are equipped with a Nurse Call system, so wherever residents choose to spend their time, help and assistance is always at hand.

Freedom of choice

Our aims at Allenbroook Nursing Home are to consistently and competently provide a high quality of life and rehabilitative care to our residents.

We focus on each resident as an individual and strive to meet their physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs.

Everyone has a fundamental right to retain their personal dignity and independence, irrespective of the severity of their physical or mental infirmity. We recognise and seek to promote each resident's privacy, dignity, lifestyle preferences and their right to participate in their care.

Coming to Allenbrook is seen as the beginning of a new and different chapter of life, and with positive support and encouragement, residents continue to lead happy and active lives.

Allenbrook has always been regarded by residents as their home. Relatives and guests are welcome to visit at any time, though we do ask visitors to avoid meal times if at all possible.

We organise a range of activities within the home, including craft and exercise sessions, film nights, cake decorating and card games.

We like to feel that the Home is part of the local community. Church services are encouraged at Allenbrook by our local Vicar; and local groups and individual regularly give up their spare time to visit the Home and entertain the residents.

Comprehensive healthcare & regular doctor visits

A care plan is formulated for each resident on an individual basis, and his is agreed with the resident and  health-care professionals.

Our local surgery provides a twenty-four hour call-out service. In addition, we have a special arrangement with our local GP who visits fortnightly to see every patient. This is a service not offered by most other care homes and provides a valuable means of maintaining the health of our residents.

Residents may, of course, continue to use the services of their own doctor (if still in the same NHS area). Community nurses offer attention whenever required, and our own qualified staff are able to dispense medication under the supervision of the local pharmacist.

Other specialists visit the home where necessary to provide chiropody services, physiotherapy, dental and optical treatment.
